Social isolation is the feeling of being left out, lonely and treated like you are invisible. At every school and every community across the nation there are children and adults who feel like they have no support and quietly suffer through each day. Young people who are isolated can become a victim of bullying, violence and mental illness. As a result, many further pull away from society, struggle with learning and social development and/or choose to hurt themselves or others. Here at EPHS, we want to do something about this, and we figured the best place to start, was with "Hello." The goal of the Start With Hello asks students, educators, parents and other community leader who interact with children to take steps in class, the lunchroom and/or on the us to be inclusive and connected. Simply, -SEE someone Student Council will be promoting these ideas throughout the week of Sept. 23- Sept. 27. We hope you take the chance to not only help us implement this campaign around the school, but to join our community in saying hello. Say hello to someone you had never thought of or reconnect with someone. You never know the difference it can make in someones life. We don't know what they are going through or how much it may be needed. The best part, it is easy to do. So join us this week in educating, reaching out and simply saying HELLO. Attention students, come by college & career to sign up for the October 3rd, 2019 campus tour. We will be visiting Texas A&M campus Christi & Texas A&M Kingsville!
